Announcing two million customers
We’re excited to announce that our customers have now opened two million Luno wallets!
Each little (or big) bit of Bitcoin or Ethereum someone buys through Luno is much more than a simple purchase. It's a vote for a new system. It's a sign that they're willing to consider a different, better way. That's why this is such an exciting milestone. The cryptocurrency community keeps growing, attracting people from all walks of life. It’s a global revolution.
Along the way we've expanded into over 40 countries across 3 continents, grown the team to over 250 Lunauts, opened headquarters in London and regional hubs in Singapore and Cape Town, and earned the title of fastest growing UK tech startup of 2018.
“Reaching the two million customers is a significant achievement. We strongly believe that by making Bitcoin more accessible through education and by offering a user-friendly, safe platform more and more people across the globe can benefit from a better financial system.
This milestone demonstrates the growing adoption of cryptocurrencies across the globe and reinforces our aim of reimagining a financial system where money is cheaper, faster and safer with open and equal access for everyone.”
- Marcus Swanepoel, Co-founder and CEO of Luno
Despite our rapid growth, we've always focused on the finer details, whether that's translating our products for different audiences, making every little feature of the app beautiful, or striving to have the best customer support around.
But we never forget the big priorities: keeping your cryptocurrency safe with bank-grade security, self-regulating (even though we don't have to), and keeping our platform inexpensive and straightforward. It's been a tumultuous few years for Bitcoin. We've navigated significant challenges by working with regulators and banks.
It's been a wild ride, but this is only the beginning, and we don't plan to slow down. Moving forward, we'll continue reaching new people as we launch in even more countries. Opening new offices in London and Johannesburg also means growing our team. If you're interested in climbing onboard as we head to the moon, check out our careers page.
We want to say thank you to everyone who has been part of Luno's mission so far
Whether you've been with us since 2013 or joined this week, you're part of the journey. Having you onboard is an essential part of upgrading the world to a better financial system.
And as always: To the moon!
