Proof of payment instructions for South African banks


We may ask you for a proof of payment if your deposit has been unallocated. This may be for any number of reasons, though a likely cause could be a mistake in the deposit reference number. Without the correct reference it becomes very hard for our finance team to track your specific deposit within the thousands they have to process daily. 

In order for us to track your deposit and fund it to the correct Luno wallet, you will have to upload a valid proof of payment from your bank. For your convenience we’ve compiled a list of ways to get your proof of payment document according to the most popular banks in South Africa. 

 


ABSA

Online

  1. Sign in to internet banking on your website browser

  2. From the Main menu:

    • If you added Luno as a beneficiary go to:

Payments > View beneficiaries > Main 


    • Or if you made a once off payment to Luno go to:

Payments > View once-off 

  1. Select Luno from the drop down menu and click View

  2. Select the checkbox for the relevant payment and download the proof of payment

App

  1. Sign in to your ABSA banking app

  2. Go to Manage beneficiaries

  3. Select the Luno beneficiary

  4. Select the relevant payment

  5. Send the proof of payment to your own personal email

    • Please note: If you send it to [email protected] from the app we will not be able to trace it back to you



Capitec 

Online

  1. Sign in to internet banking on your website browser

  2. Select Go to payments menu > Go to payment history

  3. Search for the payment to Luno then select View payment search results

  4. Select the relevant payment > Resend Notification

  5. Select via email, insert your email details to send email to yourself

    1. Please note: If you send it to [email protected] from the app we will not be able to trace it back to you

  6. Select Send proof of payment to beneficiary

  7. A PDF of the proof of payment will be sent to you


App 

  1. Sign in to your Capitec banking app

  2. Select Transact > Payments

  3. Go to and select your Luno Beneficiary

  4. Select Payment History

  5. Select the relevant payment 

  6. Select Resend Notification > Via email 

  7. Enter your own email > Notify

    • Please note: If you send it to [email protected] from the app we will not be able to trace it back to you


FNB

Online

  1. Sign in to internet banking on your website browser

  2. Select the Payments tab at the top of your screen

  3. Select Payments history (left of screen)

  4. Select Send proof of payment (also left of screen)

  5. Locate the relevant payment and click on the Recipient name to open

  6. Once open, you can click on the download button at the bottom of the screen to save the proof of payment to a location on your PC

App

  1. Sign in to your FNB banking app

  2. Select Payments > History

  3. Select the relevant Luno payment 

  4. Go to the transaction details (do not select send proof as it won't be in the correct email thread)

  5. Screenshot all the details and be sure to include the recipient reference and account number in the screenshot


Nedbank

Online

  1. Sign in to internet banking on your website browser

  2. From the Main menu go to Payments > Beneficiary Payment History

  3. Select appropriate values from Beneficiary list > Beneficiary to display payments to Luno

  4. Recent payments to Luno will be displayed 

  5. Download this document and make sure it clearly shows the Beneficiary statement text

App

  1. Sign in to your Nedbank banking app

  2. Select Payments > Beneficiary Payment History

  3. Select the relevant beneficiary from the list

  4. The list of payments will be displayed 

  5. Screenshot the proof of payment with the relevant details


Standard Bank

Online

  1. Sign in to internet banking on your website browser

  2. Select the Payments and transfers tab > Transaction history 

  3. Select your search method to find your payment > View

  4. Locate the relevant payment 

  5. Select the link under the Beneficiary name & reference column

  6. A new window will open showing your proof of payment

App

Please note: The payment notification option on the app is only available when making the payment, once the payment is done you won't be able to go back and share the notification. You will have to log into your Internet banking to download the proof of payment (see above).
