What is Polygon?

Polygon is a scaling network for Ethereum that processes transactions off the main chain to reduce fees and increase speed. Its native token is used for fees and staking.

Why it exists

By handling activity more cheaply while still connecting back to Ethereum, Polygon aims to make applications more practical for everyday use. It is one of several approaches to scaling.
