What is a validator?

A validator is a participant that verifies transactions and helps add new blocks on a Proof of Stake network. Validators usually stake crypto as a commitment to acting honestly.

How it works

In return for their work they can earn rewards, but acting dishonestly can cost them part of their stake. Validators are the Proof of Stake equivalent of miners on a Proof of Work network.
