Bittensor (TAO) is a decentralised network for machine learning that rewards people for contributing useful artificial intelligence. The network is organised into subnets, each focused on a task such as text generation, image creation or data scraping, where miners produce work and validators score its quality. Rewards in TAO are paid out based on the value each contributor adds. Launched in 2021, Bittensor has a fixed maximum supply of 21 million TAO, similar to Bitcoin, with a halving schedule that reduces new issuance over time. TAO is also used to stake and to take part in network governance.
