LayerZero (ZRO) is the token of LayerZero, an interoperability protocol that lets applications send messages and assets between different blockchains. Instead of relying on a single bridge, LayerZero uses a configurable system in which each application chooses its own verification settings, known as decentralised verifier networks. This makes it possible to build omnichain applications that work across dozens of networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana. LayerZero Labs, founded by Bryan Pellegrino, Ryan Zarick and Caleb Banister, launched the protocol in 2022. The ZRO token launched in June 2024 and gives holders a say in the protocol's governance.
