What is a confirmation?
A confirmation happens when a transaction is included in a block and accepted by the network. Each new block added on top counts as an additional confirmation.
Why it matters
More confirmations generally mean a transaction is more secure and harder to reverse, because unwinding it would mean rewriting more of the chain. Many services wait for several confirmations before treating a payment as final.
