TRON (TRX) is a blockchain platform founded in 2017 by Justin Sun and designed for high volume, low cost transactions. TRON uses a delegated proof of stake system in which elected validators, called Super Representatives, produce blocks, which keeps the network fast and fees low. It supports smart contracts and decentralised applications, and it has become one of the most widely used networks for moving stablecoins, particularly USDT. TRX is the native token, used to pay fees, to stake for network resources such as bandwidth and energy, and to vote for Super Representatives. The network is overseen by the TRON DAO.
