What is a wrapped token?

A wrapped token represents an asset from one blockchain so it can be used on another. It is backed one for one by the original asset, which is held in reserve.

How it works

Wrapped Bitcoin on Ethereum, for example, lets people use Bitcoin’s value within Ethereum applications. Because it relies on the reserve and the system that manages it, the trust behind a wrapped token matters.
