Uniswap (UNI) is the governance token of Uniswap, one of the largest decentralised exchanges (DEX) built on Ethereum. Launched in 2018 by Hayden Adams, Uniswap lets people swap tokens directly from their own wallets using automated liquidity pools instead of a traditional order book. Anyone can add tokens to a pool and earn a share of the trading fees. UNI was introduced in September 2020 and gives holders the right to vote on how the protocol is run, including fee settings and treasury spending. Uniswap now runs on Ethereum and several other networks, and it is a core part of the DeFi ecosystem.
