What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication, or 2FA, adds a second layer of security beyond a password, such as a code from an app or device. Even if someone learns your password, they still cannot get in without the second factor.

How to use it well

App-based codes are generally safer than codes sent by text message, which can be intercepted. Turning on 2FA is one of the simplest and most effective steps to protect a crypto account.
