Sui (SUI) is a layer 1 blockchain built for fast, scalable applications such as games, payments and DeFi. Developed by Mysten Labs, a company founded by former Meta engineers who worked on the Diem project, Sui launched its mainnet in May 2023. It uses the Move programming language, which is designed to make digital assets safer to create and manage, and an object based design that lets many transactions be processed in parallel. Fees are low and finality is typically within about a second. SUI is the native token, used to pay fees, to stake and to take part in governance.
