What is a bear market?

A bear market is an extended period when prices trend downward and overall sentiment is pessimistic. It is the opposite of a bull market and can last from weeks to years.

What it looks like

During a bear market, trading volumes and interest often fall, and weaker projects can struggle to survive. The label describes a broad mood and trend rather than any single day’s move.
