What is a market order?

A market order is an instruction to buy or sell straight away at the best price currently available. It prioritises speed of execution over getting a specific price.

Things to keep in mind

In fast-moving or low-liquidity markets, the final price can differ slightly from what you saw, an effect known as slippage. It contrasts with a limit order, which targets a set price.
